Introducing the GreenGov Challenge - A Bottom-Up Approach to Greening Government
Calling All Federal Employees: Submit Ideas by October 31, 2009!

On Monday, October 5th, 2009, President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order on Federal Sustainability – and in doing so, committed the Federal government to lead by example, practice what we preach and help build a clean energy economy through how we operate. To harness the collective wisdom of the more than 1.8 million civilian employees and our men and women in uniform, we’re launching the GreenGov Challenge, an online participatory way for Federal employees to suggest clean energy ideas and vote on others. more

NEW! Executive Order 13514 – Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic PerformanceDemonstrating a commitment to lead by example, President Obama signed an Executive Order on October 5, 2009 that sets sustainability goals for Federal agencies and focuses on making improvements in their environmental, energy and economic performance. The Executive Order requires Federal agencies to set a 2020 greenhouse gas emissions reduction target within 90 days; increase energy efficiency; reduce fleet petroleum consumption; conserve water; reduce waste; support sustainable communities; and leverage Federal purchasing power to promote environmentally-responsible products and technologies. more |
